Jis
desh mein raheti hain namak-haram, aatankbaadi aur shaitan; ush desh ka naam hain
Pakistan! Pakistanis are like poisonous snakes that may bite you even if you
feed them with a bowl of milk every day. In the name of friendship, Pakistan
showed their skills of betrayal and treachery. On 5th May 1999, many
Pakistani soldiers entered inside the Indian Territory through Kaksar after
killing some Indian soldiers. Pakistani soldiers started firing at Indian
villagers of border areas to conquer the Indian territories. ‘Situation is very
serious. Connect me to Delhi.’ ‘Sir! The enemy plan is simple; to cut off
Kashmir from Ladakh by attacking National Highway No. 1.’ Pakistani soldiers
attacked from the top of the hills of the Himalayan range at the Indian
soldiers who were at the plain lands. In that tough terrain, the ratio was
assumed as 10:1.Therefore, maximum mobilization of Indian soldiers at Indo-Pak
border areas was the need of the hour.
‘Bahaduri
ka doosra naam, Gorkha battalion hain. Jai Maa Kali.’ ‘Humein dushman ko bahaar
bhagaana bahut jaroori hain.’ ‘Unhi coffins ka badla lene ke liye main jaldi
aaya hoon, Sir.’ Several battalions of Indian Army started moving towards Drass
sector. The battalions were of 1/11 Gorkha Rifles, 13 JAK Rifles, 17 JAT, 18
Grenadiers and 2 Rajputana Rifles. ‘Zubaan ki tarah tere sapne bhi kaale hain
saale. Dekh ho gaya na sapna saach.’ The Pakistani soldiers started firing at
the vehicles of Indian Army which were passing through NH 1 of Zojila Pass. 17
Jat battalion reached Matayin and started the investigation about the enemy. 13
JAK Rifles battalion saw some coffins in a truck after reaching the Drass
sector. 1/11 Gorkha Rifles soldiers entered Yaldar and marched ahead to meet
the soldiers of 3 Punjab battalion and 16 Grenadiers battalion of Indian Army. ‘Aab
Gorkha aa gaya hain aap logon ki madat karne.’ ‘Ish raaste se mat jaaiye saab.’
1/11
Gorkha Rifles started the first counter-attack against the Pakistani soldiers and
succeeded in capturing back one outpost. In 17 JAT Base Camp at Mushkoh Valley,
the 17 JAT soldiers had a meeting about the war strategies. ‘You consolidate
your positions and don’t worry; I will be sending you the reinforcements.’ ‘Sir!
16 Grenadiers ke haalat bahut hee kharab hain.’ 18 Grenadiers battalion linked
up with the 16 Grenadiers battalion. On that night, 18 Grenadiers Regiment
attacked the Pakistani soldiers who conquered the Barbadh Bunker. 18 Grenadiers
failed to capture the Tololing area from the Pakistani soldiers. A new
reinforcement for 18 Grenadiers were sent to Tololing area. ‘Koi fire nahi
karega, koi harkat nahi karega, jab tak nayi reinforcement nahi aa jaati.’ On
10th June 1999, at Ghumri region, the 2nd battalion of 2
Rajputana Rifles linked up with 13 JAK Rifles battalion. ‘Victory and glory
will be ours!’ ‘All the best; Colonel!’
Another
battalion of 2 Rajputana Rifles linked up with the battalion of 18 Grenadiers. 2
Rajputana Rifles Regiment had the artillery support. That was their advantage. ‘In
16.45 hours, 120 guns will open up.’ The Bofors guns helped the Indian Army to
counterattack the Pakistani Army who were sitting at the top of the hills. On
13th June 1999, 2 Rajputana Rifles attacked the Pakistani soldiers
of Tololing Top. ‘Raja Ramchandra ki Jai.’ 2 Rajputana Rifles captured the
Tololing Top. ‘Tololing Top par Tiranga lehera raha hain, Sir.’ ‘This is the
turning point of the war. You and your boys have done a great job. Over and
out.’ The Pakistani Army now started firing the artillery guns and this time
they straightaway attacked at the administrative base camp of 13 JAK Rifles in
Ghumri. 13 JAK Rifles Regiment fought back in style to gun down several
Pakistani soldiers. ‘Hum logon ne jeet haasil kar li hain. Durga Maata ki Jai.’
‘This
is the final assault plan. Victory will be ours. Satyameva Jayete.’ ‘Hindustani
fauz nadi cross kar rahi hain.’ ‘Tu ek Bahadur Gorkha hain, marna hain toh maar
ke mar.’ ‘Jeet hamari hogi, Bhagwan hamare saath hain. Jat Balwaan, Jai
Bhagwaan.’ Soldiers of 18 Grenadiers battalion and 17 Jat had to face a very
tough battle against the Pakistani soldiers. 1/11 Gorkha Rifles led their
attack step by step with some steadiness. 13 JAK Rifles battalion attacked the
Pakistani soldiers at Point 4875. 18 Grenadiers regiment and 8 Sikh battalion made
the final attack on Tiger Hill. ‘Tiger Hill par Tirangaa lehera raha hain, Sir!’
Indian freedom fighters fought till the last drop of their blood to bring
independence to India and to maintain that independence, the brave soldiers of
Indian Army are always ready to sacrifice their life as martyrs. ‘Bharat Maata
ki Jai.’ The soldiers of Indian Army gunned down all those bloody Pakistani
soldiers to win the war of “LOC KARGIL”.
